Price Drop! ‘Full Pelt’ a Duncanson PS8 Sportsboat with trailer has just seen its asking price reduced, making this all out racer excellent value for money!

Designed by John Duncanson specifically for a Phuket ‘One Design’ Race series of the early 2000s, this high performance racer will do 20kts+ in the right wind and beats 35 footers around the cans.  Coming with a large sail wardrobe, a carbon rig with double spreader mast and a long carbon retracting and articulating bowsprit, this PS8 can be rigged to exctract maximum speed from every knot of wind. Acceleration is breathtraking. No wonder, featuring a deep 2.5m lifting keel with 150kg of ballast and super light construction this Dunanson PS8 (Phuket Sport 8) weighs only 800kg can get going on the merest breath of wind. Even when the wind gets up, the folding wing design creates a massive 3.5m wide sailing platform and enables up to 7 crew to hike out even further. As a result Full Pelt has an excellent racing pedigree. This is definitely a ‘front of fleet’ boat.

Some experience of sailing performance boats is helpful for getting the best out of this racer, yet, helming  is surprisingly easy – thanks to a long single rudder and excellent balance, finger tip steering is the norm. Clever high purchase design means that there are no winches necessary to control the sails – most control lines are located below deck an bungi powered drums and always accessable through the islands in the centre of the cockpit.  (Full drawings of all the control lines by John Duncanson are available on request.)

With the keel raised and the wings retracted Full Pelt fits neatly onto her high spec double axle road trailer for towing to race events. At only 2.4m wide this PS8 even fits into a sea container if you want to take your boat further afield.

The current owner has had Full Pelt for the last 17 years and raced her around the UK and Europe but he is now moving onto something smaller.

Full Pelt is on site in Hamsphire and we have just prepared her for her next owner. Her deck has been repainted with antislip paint, her keel has been faired and glassed, her mast step has been strengthened, exposed wooden surfaces have been repainted and her hull and keel have been antifouled. So, she can be kept in the water and she is ready to start racing straight away.
