We are delighted to present ‘Fairmaid’ a Mark 2 Cornish Shrimper 19, sail number 845.
We helped to find this boat for the current owner at the beginning of 2021 and he has thoroughly enjoyed sailing her until this season when failing health has prevented him from getting as much time on her as she deserves. He has therefore reluctantly put her on the market.
Sturdily built with good sea-going characteristics, the Cornish Shrimper 19 is a popular little yacht for use on lakes and estuaries and more than capable of prolonged coastal cruising. Yet, weighing a little over 1 tonne and having a draught of only 18″ with the keel retracted these little cruisers make great trailer sailers too. So, whether you’re just seeking to day-sail in a local estuary or you want to visit far off shores by land or sea the Shrimper 19 is sure to fit the bill. Following on from the ever popular Mark 1s, the Mark 2 boats benefitted from a higher coachroof for more room down below and from a self draining cockpit.
Fairmaid is a superb example of the Mark 2 Shrimpers. She comes with an in-board Yanmar 1GM 10 diesel engine, ‘break-back’ road trailer with a recently replaced single axle, a tiller pilot, a spinnaker, an all over winter cover, a boom tent and a solar panel to trickle charge the two batteries. The current owner has had us give her a complete overhaul when he bought her in the Winter of 2021. We completely stripped all her spars and varnished them with Epiphanes varnish, replaced her standing rigging, rewired her mast top lights, replaced the solar panel and added a second battery. Since then we have lifted her out every winter for spar varnishing, polishing, antifouling, engine servicing, keel & rudder servicing and storage under her cover. During the past year we have lifted the in-board engine out for a complete overhaul. The engine now has a new cylinder head, exhaust elbow, new alternator and a fully repainted housing. The trailer had a new axle complete with bearings, brakes and cables in 2022. Prior to this, the previously owner also immaculately maintained her with plenty of documentation to show for it.
In order to present her for sale the owner will have Fairmaid polished and antifouled, ready for her next adventures.
We thoroughly recommend this little boat for early viewing. She won’t be around for long!
