DESIGNED TO REIGNITE YOUR SAILING PASSION

Another POINTER with uncompromising lines geared towards sailing pleasure, the latest design marks a clear contrast to the trend for high freeboarded slabs of GRP.  This innovative fast cruiser fits neatly into the POINTER series, following a line of sleek, elegant yachts. As a result the POINTER 30 offers the helmsman an excellent view over the coachroof and it’s low centre of gravity creates a stiff yacht with outstanding performance under sail. As the lowest weight boat in its class this little pocket rocket quickly gets up on the plane, yet behaves impeccably when beating into the strongest of winds.  Whether steering with a tiller or the optional tilting wheel we found the POINTER 30’s helm light and well balanced, happily settling into a groove.  The sail plan is sporty and easy to control from the cockpit, with high quality winches and deck equipment.   The spacious cockpit’s clever layout permits both single-handed sailing and trips with a larger crew of up to 8!

SAFE WHEN THINGS GET ROUGH

Safety is baked into all POINTER designs and the 30 is no different. With bags of buoyancy and a high ballast ratio no wonder the POINTER 30 complies with CE category B (offshore) rating. We found the yacht to be impecably behaved, finger tip steering, even in the strongest of gusts. With full single line reefing fitted as standard there is no need to venture forward when it gest rough. The POINTER 30 is equipped with a safe closed transom which converts to a swimming or recovery platform. Whether choosing the standard shallow draft 1.25m or optional 1.75 m keel the POINTER 30 boasts a high ballast ratio, whatever keel options suit your sailing area.

A YACHT WHICH DARES TO BE DIFFERENT BELOW DECK

There are two cabin layouts to choose from. The ‘lounge’ version has an open layout and features a galley to starboard and the heads to port either side of the companionway entrance,  with saloon berths flanking the central table and a v-berth further forward – the foward space can be enclosed as a separate cabin as an option. The alternative ‘exlusive’ layout positions the heads and galley further foward and boasts an innovative bar with rotating armchairs for optimal comfort and floor space.  In the bow this layout has a separate double cabin with v-berth as standard. Cleverly positioned adjoining the forward cabin sits the heads compartment with the galley opposite. Two good sized quarter berths under the cockpit benches complete the ‘exclusive’ cabin layout.  Despite its performance orientated design the POINTER 30 can be fitted with a wide range of additional comfort features below deck.

DISCOVER NEW CRUISING GROUNDS – BY ROAD OR ON THE WATER

The Pointer 30 boasts a unique attribute for British sailors. Being narrow (2.9m wide) and light (only 2.5t) this is a boat which can be legally towed on British roads. No wide load restrictions or support vehicles required – just a car with the suitable towing capacity – many bigger 4x4s will do the job (see examples). Being such a low freeboard boat, even with the fixed keel, it won’t feel like your towing a block of flats behind your car.   So, if you’ve always hankered after sailing the West Coast of Scotland for a season or you fancied a long break in the beatiful sailing grounds of Cornwall and Devon perhaps then dispense with the tedious weeks of passage making and drive instead. Once in your new cruising area the shoal draught of the Pointer 30 enables the lucky owner to explore creeks and estuaries which are out of bounds for the deep keel fraternity.
